It was my first time ever visiting a United States Mint. I will be back one day to do a tour! I did visit the gift shop which was very cool. I highly recommend visiting for any coin and history lovers.

Absolutely five out of five stars. A free tour, friendly employees, an amazing story, and am museum like appearance.

This is a historic building in Denver, and the interior is probably three stories tall. So appears as if the Mette has built an internal second story that takes visitors through all of the production areas. It is simply quite amazing.

They have coins, but the amount of items of a value that they have an addition to that is quite astounding. They have some of the original hand presses, scales, one of the original calculators ever built, and some of the original desks and books that were used for the accounting of this when it first open.

Very tight security as you would expect for a building that makes money and stores $80 billion worth of US gold.

The tour is conducted by members of the public affairs department escorted by US treasury police, so don’t even think tour guides. Instead, think historians who love to share their stories, walking around and visiting with you.

I went on a cold winter day with my daughter. We both had a good time. Because of the weather here, be prepared to stand outside in a pre-security line for about 20 minutes.

Check the list of prohibited/allowed items before you go. Even things like small purses are not allowed. So we bought my daughters small purse not knowing this when we get online at exactly the time we are supposed to be there. I asked the treasury police officer if I had time to run that back to my car so we didn’t miss our tour. I was again met by kindness With him telling me to take my time and that I was not going to miss anything.

Highly recommend, especially for people who live in town, and I’ve never been there.

The Mint decided to close today (Monday - 2/5/24) for their own special holiday - however no where on their website, on their phone system or recored message or on Google does it say they will be closed. We arrived for a tour and their gift shop was open to sell things however they said they wouldn't run any tours because they randomly decided to be closed today.

Interesting and informative 45 min tour ! Michael had all the dad jokes and kept it fun! Get to see the coin making process. Tickets sold (for free) daily and sells out early. However, they never checked our tickets so… might be able to just sneak into the tour if sold out. The gift shop is really cool with lots of uncirculated and unique coins to buy ! No photography inside allowed.

Felt it could be esp much better. Had a tour at 12 by the time you go through security which is awesome but by the group goes through the tour actually doesn’t start for about 35 minutes. You’d think they would get people in early instead of standing outside waiting. Movie could be more updated and maybe showed how coins were made. Tour guide very informative but because getting everyone through security takes so long you feel a little rushed on the tour to read everything and listen to tour guide.

Tickets are free and are first come, first serve. Arrived at 9:30, and got tickets for the 12:30 tour. Have to arrive 30 minutes before tour to go through security. No bags allowed. If visiting during summer months or spring break, arrive at 5 am as tickets will be gone by 7:10am. Ticket window opens at 7am. Tour itself was ok... Not sure what I was expecting, it's a guided tour mixed in with self guided bits. After the guide says their script, you're free to roam around and read the information panels.. they give you plenty of time to read everything, maybe too much time.. there is a feeling of waiting around in between each room.. staff is super friendly but I do think the tour could be a bit more animated and interactive. Would I line up at 5am during peak season, no way... Off peak, why not. 🙂 There is $12 and $13 (all day or $5-6 per hour) parking nearby. Walking distance to the capital and other sites as well.

This free tour is informative and fun. You need to obtain a ticket before the tour and then show up a half hour before the tour starts. No picture taking is allowed in the building. You will see displays of historic information and coinage as well as the mint making the coins. You will come home with a free sample. Tickets can be obtained as early as 7 a.m.
